In Galway I was talking with some women about the new musical "The Pirate Queen" that premiered in Chicago and recently opened on Broadway. Here's Ben Brantley's review "Oceandance, with Swordplay" for the NYT.
It sounds like more stage Oirish fodder.
I mentioned it months ago here when I was telling Mr. M about it, and his estimation was that it was "Pirates of the Caribbean meets Riverdance."
Yep.
Grace O'Malley's life surely merits a stage production.
I was also disappointed by "A Most Notorious Woman," the play by Maggie Cronin, which I picked up in Belfast and read recently.

Amanda Marcotte contextualizes the SCOTUS decision to ban partial birth abortions with all the other legislative measures in order to mandate compulsory pregnancy for women.
Go read it.
