Bruce has designated today as a forum for a "Take Back the Blog" event to underscore that the blogosphere should not harbor misogyny and attacks on women's ability to advance their own voices and views.

In thinking about the recent hostile verbal attacks and physical threats against Amanda Marcotte, Melissa McEwan, Jill Filipovic, Kathy Sierra, and Devious Diva, I am mindful of the dangers which shadow women bloggers. I cannot imagine how they dealt with such ugly and frenzied assaults.
Yet despite the pernicious woman hating that permeates the web, I decided to celebrate the true spirit of TBTB today. I know that my habit of leaving few or no comments on other blogs which I enjoy is in part because I didn't want to gather the attention of similar assholes to bug me here. Instead of letting a potential threat censor my on-line communications, I decided today to just post a bunch of responses to bloggers I admire.
Forget about the cautionary measures and just speak up.
It was fun.
